Pennsylvania's Oil and Natural Gas Today

The Appalachian Basin has been called the most drilled and least explored basin in the world. According to the Potential Gas Committee of the Department of Energy's Office of Fossil Energy only 10-15 percent of the possible hydrocarbon producing formations in this region has been tested. The Bradford formation has been and still is the most targeted production area in Pennsylvania due to the fact that its multiple pay zones and long lived reserves have over a 95 percent success ratio. With the recent success of the Barnett shale field in Texas there is renewed interest as to the potential upside of deeper formations in the Devonian shale in Pennsylvania . Newer technologies in drilling and completion techniques have garnered some impressive results in the few wells that have explored the deeper depths of this formation.

Interstate Gas Marketing with our headquarters located in Indiana Pennsylvania is located right in the heart of the Devonian shale, one of the largest unconventional plays in the country, holding an estimated 225-250 trillion cubic feet of natural gas reserves.

In 2007 our efforts will be to continue developing our existing fields of the Bradford formation and to also target our efforts to developing deeper shale gas assets that we have targeted.
